Veteran Voices: Hall of Names is an audio-visual art installation that seeks to honor veterans of all wars and from all nations in a very personal way. The artist, a combat veteran himself, hopes to amplify the voices of other veterans. This is achieved in both a private space by experiencing this installation alone and from the high visibility platform of an optional tweet to honor this veteran which generates text and an image in social media. The instillation places a special emphasis on the relationship between non-veterans and veterans. It allows the participant to look and listen to the elusive experience of war and will final escape the perception of the participant as it does inevitably in any attempt at empathy for those who serve in combat. However, it is the artist’s hope that this process will inform and alert those who participate. All can not see the battle but all can know there is something unseen.
